Faye Marie Ankenbruck, age 74, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Born October 31, 1940, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to Louis Joseph LaStrapes (1897-1976) and Suzanne Ignatius Quebedeaux LaStrapes (1913-1981), she was the third of six siblings. Faye moved to Houston at an early age and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in Houston, Texas, in 1959.
A devoted sister, wife, and mother, Faye was a deeply committed pro-life advocate, youth catechism instructor, and republican delegate. Known affectionately by all as "Grandma", Faye's life was her family and fittingly her legacy will be her exemplification of family values. Beyond a deep devotion to her natural family, she cultivated and nourished an extended family that includes friends, neighbors and all those she encountered daily as Faye knew no strangers. She gave of her time and substance unselfishly, and dedicated her life to protecting children, providing for those in need, and helping everyone she encountered realize the worth in their existence and encourage them to fearlessly chase their dreams. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Bernard Ankenbruck, Sr., her parents, Louis Joseph and Suzanne, her sisters, Myra Massey and Jacqueline LaStrapes, her brother-in-law, Joseph McDowell, and her nephews, Ernest Massey, Jr. and Christopher McDowell.
She is survived by her children: daughter Lisa, and husband, Michael; son, Victor; son, Stephen, and wife, Tanya; son, David, and wife Tonya; and son, Joel, and wife, Kim; her grandchildren, Sara, and husband, Cisco, Alton, and wife, Vanessa, Samantha, and husband, Lenz, Johnathan, and partner, Meagan, Ashlie, Mason, Bailie, Emily, Adam, Payton, Jude, and Cole; her great grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Jesse, Sean, Caden, Carla, Zoe, Ava, Addisu, Emma, Tigist, Sarina, Gessika and Analisa; and her siblings; brother, Charles, and wife, Verna; sister, Suzette; and brother, Patrick, and wife, Noeleen.
