Felicitas "Bernice" Gonzalez, age 92, was born on May 18, 1922 in Houston, Texas. She went to be with her Lord on February 23, 2015, surrounded by family just as she wanted it. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Antanacia DeLaCruz; sister, Mamie; brothers, Ray and Frank; and son, David. She is survived by three sons: Joe, Jesse and Elias; and one daughter, Gloria; sisters: Henrietta Solis and Juanita De Hoyos. Bernice had a special place in her heart for all of her 27 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Grandma/ Mom/ Bernice worked all her life and did not learn to drive until she was 48. Before she learned to drive, it was always the bus to and from wherever she was. Yet she always maintained a positive attitude with whatever life threw at her. The doors to her house were always open. Even as we got older, she still kept the doors open for her children and grandchildren. No matter the situation, we knew we had a place to stay, at grandma's, and some of us did. She even opened her doors to strangers (families) she had met at work waitressing. She welcomed them until they were able to get on their feet. Those families still remain friends. After 93 years, I know God has her in a special place in heaven with no more pain and no more sorrows, just joy. I know she knew the Lord and loved going to church on Sundays, eating out and then returning home after church. How can I forget her sweet tooth of Pan de Huevo with coffee every chance she could. And her phone calls hollering at you like you were deaf or forgetting to hang up and her talking to herself as you hear "The Price is Right" in the background on TV. Those memories will last a lifetime. Love you Mom/ Grandma, going to miss you.
