Flo was a dedicated Roman Catholic, with her faith serving as the foundation of her life. She faithfully attended daily online Mass and recited the Rosary each day. Following this, she would read Bible passages for strength in facing the pain she experienced in her later years and for all her loved ones. In her prayers, she sought and received comfort in the love of Jesus Christ.
Flo attended Christ the King Catholic School during her primary education. Thereafter, she attended and graduated from John H. Reagan High School in the Heights. Though she did not attend college, Flo developed a passion for learning throughout her life.
During her career, Flo held positions in personnel and as an administrative assistant for several companies, including MD Anderson, the Teacher Retirement System, Alamo Barge Lines, and Peat Marwick International. In her later career, she transitioned to freelancing and working for herself, dedicating many hours to typing up depositions for court reporters. This allowed her to work from home and spend more time with her family.
Flo was a talented cook and seamstress. Her home was always filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking, and her hands were rarely still, whether she was sewing, repairing clothes or needlepointing for her family and friends.
Flo had a deep love for children and family, always putting them first. Flo’s home was a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of her nurturing spirit. Flo was especially known for her extraordinary generosity, which will be cherished by those she leaves behind.
Flo was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph Walter Clay, and her parents, Alexander Henry “Alex” Krolczyk and Martha Barbara Budnik Krolczyk. Flo is survived by her children Christopher Clay (Kelly), Ginger Carol Clay DeVor, and Gregory Michael Clay, and many other relatives and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Services for Flo will be announced soon.
May Flo rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, keeping her spirit alive in the hearts of those who loved her.
