Florentino (Tino) Rodriguez was born in Michoacán, Mexico on September 18, 1927, to the late Jose Rodriguez Perez and Carlota Escamilla de Rodriguez. Florentino lived his early years in Michoacán, Mexico with his mother Carlota until he was 14 years old when they made their way to Texas. Texas is where he became a master of his trade as a Roofer and joined the Local Roofers Union 123 where he later retired. Houston, Texas is also where he met the love of his life Leonor Avalos Rodriguez and they married on October 15, 1960 and started their family of 5 children. Florentino was happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Florentino lost his fight with Alzheimer’s Disease on Monday evening after 9 years in the comfort of his home.
He is survived by his eldest daughter Molly Werner (Edward, Michael, Megan, & Emily), son Rogelio Rodriguez, youngest daughter Magdalena DeLaGarza (Arthur, John (Kenzie & Estella), Alyssa), granddaughter Lesley A. Rodriguez of his late daughter Irma A. Rodriguez, and grandson Vincent McCracken of his late daughter Margarita A. Rodriguez.
Anyone who knew Tino knows how much he loved and cherished his family. Without a doubt, everyone knew upon meeting him, what a kind and compassionate man he was. Tino did not have a mean bone in his body and it showed not only in the way he treated others but also in his love for his animals.
He was loved by so many that were not only friends but that were considered family in every sense of the way. Maria, Esteban, Anthony, Alex, Arturo, & Claudia Huerta and Rosa Carranco.
We know that he is no longer suffering anymore and has been reunited with his wife, daughters, family and friends in heaven.
