Floyd L. “Smokey” Johnson, 98, passed away August 27, 2018 in Sugar Land, TX. He was born on October 22, 1919 in Perry, FL. He married Evelyn Marie Gilbert on August 16, 1952. Floyd served in the U.S. Army during WWII and is a Purple Heart recipient. He graduated from University of Houston and retired from Southern Pacific Transportation Co. in 1983 after a distinguished career of more than 45 years.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Tulula Mae (Lipscomb) Johnson, wife Evelyn Johnson, his sons Richard and David Johnson, brothers Cary, Bill, and Barney Johnson, granddaughter Melissa Johnson. He is survived by his daughters, Judy and Connie Johnson and son-in-law, David Hickox; sister-in-law Linda Gilbert and brother-in-law Keith Hoague; brothers Ray, CJ, Buddy, and Dolan Johnson, and sister Pam Johnson; grandchildren Mitchell Johnson, Joseph LaFico, Johnathon Miller, Lindsay and Lena Hickox; and great-grandchildren Kristin, Stephanie and Chloe Johnson, Rowe Miller and Samantha Hamil; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Floyd is remembered by his family and friends for his personable, loving, and generous nature and his great sense of humor.
