

Forrest Moore, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 after a long journey with dementia. He was born May 3, 1927 in Beaumont, TX to Bedford Forrest Moore, Sr. and Irene Lockhart Moore. Forrest graduated from Beaumont High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the Hocking, an attack transport ship. After World War II, he returned to Beaumont and attended Lamar University. After transferring to The University of Houston, he earned his B.S. in Geology in June 1952. Forrest went to work in July 1952 for Sun Oil Company where he spent his 35 year career in petroleum geology. He married his wife, Nina Marie Bryan Moore on November 7, 1952, and they were privileged to enjoy over 62 years of married life before his passing. Forrest's career took his family through various moves from Beaumont, TX to Lafayette, LA to Houston, TX and finally to Dallas, TX where he retired in 1987. In 1998, he and Nina moved back to Houston to be close to their three married children and their families.
Forrest was a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Katy Masonic Lodge 1439. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nina, daughters Ann Kemp and husband Paul, Kay Threet and husband John, and Carol Vaughn and husband Greg, nephews Ronnie and Mark Conn, sister-in-law Martha Wetzel, and numerous cousins. He is also survived by five grandchildren he adored - Emily and Elizabeth (Libby) Threet, Brian Kemp and wife Mary, Mark Kemp, and Stephen Ware.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in the chapel of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77024 at 1:00 P.M. The family will receive guests immediately following the service in the church parlor. A burial service will be held for the family Tuesday morning at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Forrest's sons-in-law - Paul Kemp, John Threet and Greg Vaughn, and his grandsons - Brian Kemp, Mark Kemp and Stephen Ware. Honorary pallbearers are Forrest's cousin, L. E. (Buddy) Lockhart and his two nephews, Ronnie and Mark Conn.
