Frederic Clarence (Ted) Buck’s life began on April 5, 1933 in Rochester, NY and after 87 years of life - family, work, hobbies, travel, fun, and love - he left his earthly life on July 21, 2020. Born to Roberta and Clarence Buck, Ted grew up in the Rochester area and after graduating from Spencerport High School, he joined the Air Force where he faithfully served the country he loved for almost a decade. Upon discharge, he took a job with the American Automobile Association (AAA) where he worked for 35 years. Shortly thereafter, he met and married Lila Marjorie (Marge) Matzat. Ted and Marge had three daughters, Barbara, Cheryl, and Joan, and together enjoyed traveling around the United States, pool time fun in the backyard, and extended family. Ted was an avid collector of license plates and at one time his collection exceeded 3000 plates. In 1979 his job with AAA brought him and his family to Houston, Texas. After Ted retired from AAA, he worked in customer relations for John Eagle Acura until his final retirement in 2002. In retirement, Ted and Marge enjoyed cheering on the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros, worshipping with the community of faith at Grand Lakes Presbyterian Church, spending time with family, and traveling. Ted is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marge Buck, his daughters and their husbands: Barbara and Steve Retzloff, Cheryl and David Shafer, Joan and Tim Jenkinson, five grandchildren: John McClintic (and wife Rebecca), Laura Donaldson (and husband David), Melanie McClintic, Lynn Sorota (and husband Cole), Bradley McClintic, and his two great grandchildren, Megan and Dylan Donaldson.
A graveside service with military honors will be held for the family on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 10:15 at the Houston National Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Harry Slye.
