Gary Keith Spinks

1952-2012

Gary Keith Spinks was born December 18, 1952 in Clute, TX to Elois and Jo Ann Spinks. He was a strong, dependable and hard-working man. He was a proud father, devoted brother and eternally loyal friend. Although he never won the lottery, the love of his family and friends made him feel like the richest man in the world.

He is survived by his son, Shayne Spinks, daughter, Shandy Spinks Arellano, their mother, Laurann Spinks, 4 brothers, Richard Spinks, Norman Spinks, Scott Spinks, Steven Spinks, 3 sisters, Deanna Spinks, Ricë O’haver and Jamie Thibodeaux, 6 nieces, Stefanie Spinks, Tracy Spinks, Carolyn Bellinger, Raven Thibodeaux, Amber Spinks, Hailey Spinks, 2 nephews, Keith O’haver and Skye Thibodeaux.

He had many talents. He was the family GPS before GPS existed. His knowledge of back-roads and shortcuts to get around the city was invaluable to his family, friends and employees. He was a gifted mechanic. He could diagnose and resolve any type of automobile trouble. He had a knack for memorizing numbers and processing calculations in his head. He could tell you how much material would be needed for a concrete job and how much it would cost just by looking at the site.

Of all his talents, his favorite was bowling. What started out as a hobby quickly turned into a passion for the sport. This passion was soon recognized and fueled his drive to excel. In the 1987-1988 Sundowners League, his team, The Leftovers, were awarded runners up. He received awards from the American Bowling Congress every year from 1994-2001 for League High Averages ranging from 202 to 212. He was awarded for accomplishing 11 strikes in a row and scoring a 290 on September 3, 1996, June 26, 2000 and August 26, 2001. He then achieved the highest score of a 300 game on November 14, 1995, October 11, 1999, March 18, 2001 and June 2, 2001. He enjoyed the game, but he loved the time he got to spend with his friends and family most of all.

Gary Keith Spinks was taken too soon, but he will always be in our hearts.
