

Geneva Bilton Life’s Legacy On October 13, 1925, in Sunnyside, Texas, a daughter was born to Adam Stewart and Ida Belle Knowles-Stewart whom they named Geneva Stewart. She and her sister and two brothers were affectionately raised by their grandparents, Silas and Addie Knowles.
At an early age she was baptized at the Mt. Zion CME Church. She attended Bob Burton High School and eventually moved to Houston, Texas.
She met and married Leroy Bilton and to this union two children were born: Brenda and Ida. They were married over 40 years. During the marriage she joined Payne Chapel AME Church, where she was a member for over 75 years. While and Payne Chapel she was an active member of the Usher Board and Ella Bouldin Missionary Society.
Mother Bilton was a pillar of the Settegast community where she owned and operated the Jack and Jill Kindergarten for over thirty years.
Mother Bilton made her final transition from this earthly life on Sunday, July 6. She was preceded in her passing by her parents, grandparents, husband, Leroy Bilton; brothers, AD Stewart and Rev. Roy
Stewart; sister, Justene Joseph; Daughter, Brenda Cross. She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughter, Ida (James Tidwell); four grandchildren, Alicia Horn (Byron), Roy McCauther (Kenkatta), Karl Thomas (Adrienne), Robert Tidwell (Kristin); a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and church family members and friends.
