Genevie Veronica Stegent

Genevie was born on June 23, 1924, to William and Sophie (Mazurkiewicz) Bilski. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School until eighth grade. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. On January 18, 1947, she was married to Steve A. Stegent.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, embroidery, making quilts, and gardening. The flower beds around her home were filled with roses, seasonal flowers, and vegetables. Genevie volunteered at the Food Pantry for many years at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, where she attended with her family.

Genevie is preceded in death by her husband, Steve A. Stegent; son, Gary S. Stegent; daughter, Germaine Robey; parents William and Sophie Bilski; brothers Nick Bilski, Rev. Harry Bilski, and Edmund Bilski; sisters, Barbara Twardowski, Theresa Jozwiak, Laura Grocholski, Gertrude Schuerer, infant sister Tekla Bilski; and great-grandson, Jordan Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Roberts; grandchildren, Geralynn Dorman, Shawn Stegent, Timothy Stegent, Laura Hoffart, Kathryn Hoffart, and Jacob Hoffart. Genevie has numerous great-grandchildren: Shea Stegent, Jocelyn Lee, Stephanie Fields, Zoey Kilcullen, Kenzy Brown, Autumn Gonzales, Michael Young, Randy Dorman, and Katrina Dorman. Great-great-grandchildren include Chase Dorman, Kaylynn Dorman, one great-great-great-grandchild, Chase Dorman Jr., and beloved by Brad and Loretta Davidson.

Genevie had a great devotion to her prayer time and, for many years, attended daily mass. She will be remembered for her kind and grateful heart.

A visitation will be held on August 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Pat H. Foley & Company, located at 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018.

The funeral service will follow on the same day, August 28, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Pat H. Foley & Company.

A committal service will take place on August 28, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Brookside Memorial Park, situated at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
