On January 14, 1943, God blessed Myrtle and George Raven with the birth of their beautiful daughter, George Ann. Goddaughter, Jean, then had her living “baby-doll” to cherish, which she has for all of eighty-two years. The arrival of brother, Michael, completed the family circle.
George Ann’s religious foundation began with Baptism, as an infant, in Holy Rosary Catholic Church (Galveston). In grades k-2nd her Christian unity, faith and devotion was expanded in the church school in preparation for “First Communion”. With the family’s relocation to LaMarque, Queen of Peace became their home church. Its first pastor, Father Frank Lagana, further guided George Ann’s spiritual nurturing as she received the sacraments of “Confirmation” in her young adulthood, “Matrimony” as a young woman, “Holy Eucharist” throughout her life and “Anointing of the Sick” as she transitioned.
The highlight of George Ann’s high school extra-curricular engagement focused on her beautiful creative dancing. During her senior year, she had the distinct honor of being crowned “Miss Lincoln High” prior to graduating in 1961. She later became a licensed beautician and proudly served her community as the owner and primary stylist of “GeorgeAnn’s Beauty Spot”.
On August 10, 1963, George Ann was united in Holy Matrimony with Percy Lee Taylor of Trinity, TX. To this Union two sons were born, Percy Lee Taylor, Jr. and Dwayne Lee Taylor. With the passing of her father, George Raven, in 1982, George Ann and brother, Michael, continued the management and operation of the family’s G & M Bonding Company prior to her retirement.
