

George A. Furlick, 93, of Houston Texas, son of Nicholas and Anna (Krall), passed away on March 19th, 2024 after a short stay in Hospice. He is now enjoying life in heaven with all his siblings: Nick (Martha), Ivan (Shirley), Joe (Dottie), Frank, Tony, Mary, Annie (Tommy), Barbara, and his grandson Matt.
He is survived by Cecilia, his wife of 72 years, three children: Michael (Nancy), Debra (Rick), Katherine (ex Larry), 9 grandchildren: David (Maria), Brian, Jessi (Mike), Scott (Jess), Erica (Chris), Lauren (David), Andy (Katie), Becky, Aaron (Michelle), and 15 great grandchildren.
George spent the last 25 years of his retirement in Houston with Cecilia. He enjoyed family time with Katherine and her daughters and their families and periodic visits from Michael and Debra and their families.
While living in Grafton, Wisconsin, he was involved with the local community in various ways. He spent years with the Boy Scouts, was involved with the American Legion, and umpired women’s softball. He was a generous host and was always ready with a joke or two, though they were generally quite corny.
He served in the Korean war from February 1952 to November 1953 as a corporal.
He played baseball and basketball in high school in Hermansville, the upper peninsula of Michigan. In 1948, his senior year, his basketball team took state championship in their class. They won 41 to 39 with George scoring 10 points.
A visitation for George will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service with military honors will occur Monday, April 8, 2024 from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
