

George E. Hamm Sr. passed away on October 26, 2017. He was born on November 18, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas, the fourth child of Agnes Marie and Richard George Hamm. George was a member of the 1944 Graduating Class at Thomas Jefferson High. He was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving 2 years in Japan with the rank of Battalion Sergeant Major. After the war he went to Lamar College in Beaumont, then transferred to SLI, now known as LSU in Lafayette, Louisiana. Go Bulldogs! He graduated in 1952 with a degree in chemistry. While in college he married Beulah Mae Railey in 1950. He moved to Houston in 1956 when he began a job with Eastern States Chemical, now known as Signal Oil and Gas. George also worked for Petro-Tex which when he retired in 1991 became Bayer Chemical. He is preceded in death by his parents Agnes Marie and Richard George Hamm. and siblings: Richard George, Geneva, Robert Gerald, Henry Curtis "Plug," Rose Marie, and Will Allen "Cowboy." Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 67 years, Beulah Mae Hamm; his son, George “Buster” E. Hamm Jr. and his wife Sylvia; and his son, Michael L. Hamm; as well as extended family Nancy and Russell Broaddus and their daughters Emily and Betsy.
The family will receive friends for a memorial service on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
