George B. Moreno, 74 was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 8, 1948, and passed away on January 19, 2023, in Katy, Texas.
George proudly began serving his country in the United States Army in 1966 where he began his career in Radiology and retired in 1986. During his service, he received several accolades and commendations, which included a letter written to the Pats & Pans newspaper thanking him for his role in saving a 13-year-old’s life when she went into anaphylactic shock. On October 14, 1983, he also received the Army Achievement Medal from John E. Major, M.D. Brigadier General Commanding of William Beaumont Army Medical Center, where he was credited for his preparation of the Hospital Information System. I quote, “His contributions reflect great credit upon himself, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, and the United States Army.
After retiring from the Army, he became the Director of Radiology at Parkway Hospital and Northwest Medical Hospital. Soon after he started his own business and then began working as a contractor where he traveled across the country for work in his field until retirement.
He loved traveling, was a history buff, and loved to discuss politics. He was an avid Houston Astros and Texans fan. He enjoyed his happy hours where his favorites were Miller Lite and Crown Royal. He loved having good laughs with everyone and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a selfless man, who would assist anyone that wanted to achieve their life’s goals, was a huge proponent of education, and assisted everyone he could to further their careers. He was a natural mentor, but also a student of life. He loved to learn almost as much as he loved to teach.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Pauline Moreno, sister Janie Rivera and beloved and best friends Larry and Jesse Moreno.
To carry on his legacy George is survived by his natural children Pauline Hancock and her husband Terry, Chris Moreno and his wife Laleh, and Patricia Nel and her husband Riaan. His siblings Carlos Moreno and wife Annie, sister Guadalupe Villegas and husband David. His grandchildren are Kira, Elijah, Aaron, Noah, and Isabelle Hancock, Jaxon and Alana Moreno, and Megan Statton. His stepdaughter, Elizabeth Galaviz, and her son Joziah Amador.
