She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Dalton D. Durand.
Georgia had a very full and interesting life. She grew up in the Lake Charles, Louisiana area and ran track and graduated from Lake Charles High School. She later married her childhood friend and sweetheart, Dalton D. Durand. The family moved to the Houston area and Dalton found work with the Cameron Iron Works Company, They had their daughter Diana a few years later. Georgia resided in the Westview Terrace area of Spring Branch were she lived for 62 years.
Georgia worked and retired from Palais Royal after 30 years with the company. She worked in retail most of her life and met many friends along the way.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church for many years and was a member and officer of the Woman’s Club. She adored her grandsons whom she helped to raise. The family wishes to acknowledge her grandson Bobby who has cared for Georgia for the last eight years.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Morgan and husband Robert; grandsons, Bobby Morgan and Stephen Morgan and wife Brandi; granddaughter, Talia Morgan; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
