Gerald Joseph Barnes, Jr. entered into our lives on September 3, 1990. He was the second child born to the union of Kendall Patterson Barnes and Gerald J. Barnes, Sr. Gerald earned the nickname "Duddy" while on vacation with his family in Florida when a hotel employee affectionately referred to him as "Dooda Brown". The name was a perfect fit because our "Duddy" was always doing' or into' something! Though he was the true definition of a "Mama's Boy", "Duddy" was absolutely adored by his older siblings Sharron Barnes Frost and Gerald "Skeeta" Barnes. We will always remember our "Duddy" as a loving, affectionate man who honored and placed his family above everything. His renewed desire was to be a man his family could be proud of. Gerald had attended Westfield High School in Houston, TX but was two credits shy of graduating in 2010. He began working hard to remedy that. At the time of his demise, "Duddy" was a man on a mission! He actively worked two jobs and recently began the process of earning his GED in order to attend trade school at Lone Star College in the Spring of 2013. The Lord, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Gerald home on November 22, 2012, Thanksgiving Day. Though heartbroken, we are THANKFUL to have known, laughed with, fussed at, motivated, and loved our "Duddy" for 22 beautiful years! We are faced with the reality that he was never solely ours to hold on to forever. We are comforted by the realization that he has been returned to and now rests in the bosom of the Master and we will unite with him again someday. Gerald is survived by his parents Kendall Patterson Barnes and Gerald J. Barnes, Sr., his siblings Sharron Barnes Frost (Willie) and Gerald "Skeeta" Barnes, paternal grandmother Rosemary Barnes, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Ruby Lee Patterson, maternal grandfather Alvin Tuggle, and paternal grandfather Joe Barnes. Gerald will rest peacefully at Paradise Cemetery North.
