GERALD (JERRY) MAX FUHRMAN, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born December 11, 1934, the youngest of six, to Elsie and Henry Fuhrman in Lindsay, Texas.
He went to Sacred Heart school and later Subiaco Academy in Arkansas. He went to Creighton University and University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. After he changed to University of Texas of Austin, he joined a Catholic fraternity. Jerry received his B.A. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin where he met his wife Carolyn. They married in San Antonio September 13, 1958.
Meanwhile he served in the army reserves at least three summers. His first career was as a salesman for Dun & Bradstreet. Then they decided to move to Houston where he became a Senior Vice President for The Sisters of Charity Corporate Hospitals, where he was part of a team that developed a large liability insurance program that now serves a dozen Catholic hospital systems around the nation.
Gerald loved watching college sports, fishing, camping, reading about history and traveling.
Gerald is survived by his brother Alvin, his eldest son, Glenn and wife Katherine of Houston; daughter, Elizabeth and wife Yvonne of Rockville, MD; and son, Mark of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His grandchildren are Lindsey, Gaige, Dani, Addison, Caleb, Max and Mason.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary and Vigil to begin at 7:00 p.m. on June 20, 2025 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held 9:30 am., on June 21, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 3617 Milam St, Houston, TX 77002. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
