Celebrating the Life of Gerald Jermaine Hardy On March 11, 1975, Gerald Jermaine Hardy, came boisterously into this world, born to Yvonne Hardy in Shreveport, LA. Gerald was the loving, fun big brother to Jamaal Reynolds.
Gerald attended Klein ISD elementary and Middle school where he found his passion for competitive dance and cheer. Gerald, known for his charismatic personality and upbeat attitude took to dance immediately. In middle school, Gerald joined the Champions Superstars dance team where he met his first dance partner and lifelong friend Tracy. They won many medals and trophies with their unique style of dance and high energy performances that captured audiences and judges alike.
In High School, Gerald was an active student who was involved in sports, cheer, and many other activities around the school. His love for cheer earned him a scholarship to Blinn Junior College, Kilgore Junior College, and finally making a home with the Sam Houston State University Cheer Squad.
After leaving College, he began his professional career with the M.A. Dance company where he coached, judged, and instructed many students for over 10 years. There he created lifelong bonds with Helen Norris, Jodi Kramer, and Dee Munson just to name a few. He spent many summers traveling the country serving as an instructor at various camps, studios, and competitions. Gerald became one of the premier instructors and choreographers in the world of dance and cheer. Gerald’s love for his students could be seen in how he constantly found ways to motivate them to be the best. Till this day many can still hear him counting down 5, 6, 7, 8… (You know the voice).
His story wouldn’t be complete if we did not mention his love for food. Not only did Gerald like to eat but he loved to cook. From charcuterie boards to glazed pork chops, Gerald could be found curating new recipes to share with his family and friends. Many remember his enthusiasm to try new foods from all cultures, or the latest cooking gadget.
Gerald leaves behind his loving mother, Yvonne Hardy and brother Jamaal Reynolds. His sister in-law Tushika Hunt-Reynolds, and niece Jamya Reynolds. Great Uncles Robert G. Hardy (Ruby) of Dallas, TX. Louis Fuller of Princeton, Louisiana. Uncles: Dana Hardy Sr. (Lois) of Phoenix, Arizona and Ronnie Hardy of Shreveport, Louisiana, a host of family, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
On Friday, February 5, 2021, at age 45, Gerald gained his wings. He was loved by all, and will forever be remembered and missed. Even though Gerald is no longer with us, his positive attitude will always reign in our hearts. Whenever you are feeling down, close eyes and count down 5,6,7,8… and let him coach you through the possibilities that you can do anything.
