Gerrie graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in Psychology circa 1942 and was among the first Texas women to obtain an airplane pilot’s license. She mentored WWII soldier Win Blair in solo flights and they married, became Catholic converts, had two children and adopted six more, under the guidance of the Dominican Third Order. They had special devotion to the Blessed Mother of God through the Legion of Mary.
Gerrie remained intensely loyal to Traditional Catholic tenets even to hosting Saturday Rosary Parties for many years where up to 200 people arrived at the family backyard grotto.
Gerrie and Win Blair were activists in Conservative political issues, every church and charitable organization available and they were surrounded by a huge circle of friends and colleagues. These included numerous members of various religious congregations such as the Passionists Holy Name Retreat Center, Cenacle Retreat Center, Incarnate Word Religious, Religious of the Sacred Heart, Diocese of Galveston/Houston religious and many more.
In the 1960’s she joined the fledgling Jim West and Co. Realtors, where her skill in residential sales and listings brought national recognition and awards as Houston enjoyed unprecedented growth in an influx of a multitude of corporate headquarters. She then founded two new businesses in the 1970’s, Gerrie Blair, Inc. and Gerrie Blair Realtors, proudly proclaiming from billboards, “Gerrie Blair IS Real Estate.”
In 1983 she moved to Johnson City, Texas in to her hillside Log Cabin to “retire,” only to begin a new career working at the Blanco County Courthouse. She worked for Judges, the County Attorney and set up the Indigent Health Care Program.
