Gina Varrone

Gina was born on June 19, 1960, in Greece to the late Perikles and Maria Zagarelos, and she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her loving family.

Gina is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Varrone, and her cherished children: Natalie Pavlatos and fiancé Troy Ciccone, Maria Veintimilla and husband Robert Veintimilla, Ari Pavlatos and wife Esther Pavlatos, and her stepdaughter Jennifer Varrone. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Ebel Veintimilla, Adriana Kuri, Isabela Kuri, Viviana Veintimilla, Victoria Veintimilla, and Axel Veintimilla, along with her loving siblings Harry Zagarelos, Mimmo Zagarelos, and Tina Tsolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Dora Plastourgos.

Gina was a sweet and giving soul who devoted her life to her family. Known for her joyful spirit, she loved nothing more than dancing to Greek music while cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Whether she was tending to her garden, reading a good book, or simply enjoying the company of her loved ones, Gina’s gentle presence brought warmth and light to everyone around her. She was a selfless woman who would go out of her way to help anyone in need, embodying kindness in every aspect of her life. Her passing leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of all who knew her, but her love and the beautiful memories she created will continue to guide and comfort us. She will live on forever in our hearts, and we look forward to the day when we will meet again. Gina, we love you endlessly.

A visitation for Gina will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas.

A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 1100 Eldridge Parkway, Houston, Texas, with a committal service at 12:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Gina’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
