It is with dismay and sadness we announce that Gladys Ann Raabe of Cypress, Texas, has left this earth to reunite with her Creator, her loving parents Emil and Annie (Kutac) Hermis, and long cherished brothers Emil and Ernie.
The loving, caring, and thoughtful memories, the things the most wonderful of moms and wives are made of, reflect solidly in the foundation of her life. She was born July 7, 1936 in the community of St. John (Schulenburg) in Fayette County, Texas. Gladys later met and married her one and only love, Robert Raabe Sr. Together they knitted a family rich in love, reflecting the Catholic ties that bound them as one. She spurred seemingly endless summers of family gatherings, polka dancing, and hugs. She loved family outdoor events, fishing, camping and the chance to engage her magic touch to the fish fry that followed. Her home cooking and smile adorned countless holiday gatherings with the many family and friends she loved and who loved her. She built a nest reflecting the truest sense of family unity and she will be dearly missed by all.
Gladys is survived by Bob, her loving husband of 65 years, her sister Jeanette Rhodes (husband Mike) and her brother Kenny Hermis (wife Bobbie).
She leaves behind her son Bob (wife Kellye and children Matthew {wife Rachel, son Matthew}, Alyssa, Robert, and Megan), her daughter Sandra (husband Val Neshyba and children Garrett {wife Rana, children Levee and Wade}, and Jacquelyn), her son Bruce (wife Staci and children Nicole {husband Chris, children Peyton, Kamryn, Jace, and Austin}, Danielle, and Zachary), and her son David (wife Katrece, children Jordan and Jared).
Gladys will be laid to rest on Monday the 13th of April. Sadly, due to current circumstances, attendance is limited to just the immediate family. Thoughts of flowers and tributes, although greatly appreciated, are unfortunately banned by mandates. However, a memorial service will be announced at a later date when all can gather to reminisce and celebrate her life, a time we all look forward to.
