She was the second of five children they had together: (Lorna, Gloria, Patsy, Loysin and Anthony) with extended siblings, (Selwin, Ann, Ancil, Emma, Steve and Joey) from Sybil’s second marriage and Ann-Maria from Dan’s. Gloria attended Princes Town RC School and Cowen Hamiliton College where she excelled in academics but always had a passion to work in the medical industry.
Gloria was a quiet, simple country girl from Prince Town who grew up with her grandparents and sibling who loved to cook and sew. She later met and was married to Lennox Brown (yes, same last name) where they had six children together: Ronnie, Rondon, Ravelle, Rory, Raul and Rae-Anne. She was involved with each of her children and always encouraged them to do well.
Gloria was very family-oriented and was also highly involved in the church and group, “The Legion of Mary”, which she was a member of. Some of her close friends were Mary, Merlyn and Mrs. O’Connell. Gloria travelled for years to the United States to vacation and work on several occasions before permanently migrating in 1994 with Rae-Anne in tow. It was a difficult, but necessary decision to pursue a better life for her family. She started out doing domestic work and a few years after, she pursued the career as a Nurse’s Aid at Methodist Hospital.
She was later joined by her son, Ronnie. Two years after, Rondon travelled to Houston, Texas. As the years progressed, the other kids also migrated to the U.S., with Rory being the only one in Trinidad. Gloria has always been a quiet and private individual that stayed to herself, but kept in touch via phone calls or family gatherings.
Over the last 2 years of her life, Gloria began getting lost and her memory began getting cloudy. Within that time, she was diagnosed with progressive dementia, which she eventually succumbed to.
