Gloria was born on October 8 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Willie Blanton and Irma McGregor. She moved to Houston at the age of ten, where she attended Phillis Wheatley High School. She also worked at WFI Industries until her retirement. She catered different social events for WFI after her retirement.
She joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the late Rev. Chalk. She later renewed her faith in God under Pastor King.
She married Sterling Johnson who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, five sons; Dewitt Green Jr. (Denita), Roby Lee (Vee), Kenneth Ray (Barbara), Michael and Ronnie. Three daughters; Vanessa, Zeresta (James) and Sonja Rene. Three step-sons; Sterling Jr., Barnard and Marvin (Gusalda) Johnson. And two precious god sons, Donald West, and Michael Ary. Preceded her in death; one daughter, Patricia Dirden, one grandson, Nick Green, one granddaughter, Zeresta (Sweet-Sweet) Dirden and two great grandsons, Patrick Thomas and Tayshaun Dirden. She also leaves her laughter and joy of life to 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 24 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
