

Harriett Jessie Venable Thomason went to be with her Lord on the 2nd of June 2012. After leading a full and vigorous life, she died of complications of old age at the age of 95 in Houston, Texas. She was born in 1916 in Illinois, where she grew up. She worked throughout World War II for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in St. Louis, Missouri, and later as executive assistant to the Chief of Staff, Fourth U.S. Army, at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Thomason was married for almost 30 years to the late W.E. "Tommy" Thomason of Bellaire, Texas. They were active in many Houston civic affairs and the Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo, where Tommy was a Vice-President and Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
She attended the First Presbyterian Church, where she was active in their Bible Study program. She was also a member for many years of the Houston Club and the Metropolitan Club where she played tennis with her friends.
Mrs. Thomason is survived by her step-daughter Susan Thomason Goodman; her granddaughter, Wendy Goodman Jakobovits; and great-granddaughter, Kate Blu Jakobovits; her nieces, Lenora Linnenbom Barnes and Harriett Venable Linnenbom; and her nephew, Victor J. Linnenbom, Jr.
She will be remembered for her lively personality, her devotion to her husband until his death, and her gracious manner throughout her life.
A memorial service is to be conducted in at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 8th of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Dr. Wm. "Bill" Heston, Executive Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, is to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private entombment at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
