Hoa Thi Nguyen, 83, peacefully passed away on June 23, 2017 at her home in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 1, 1934 in Ninh Binh, Vietnam.
She was formerly a school teacher and owner of a children’s clothing store in Vietnam. Her husband was killed during the war and she fled to The States with her daughter in 1975. She centered her life around being a caretaker for her child, granddaughters and others. Hoa was a wonderful cook, best known for her homemade French mayo, pho and egg rolls. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, watching drama shows, and simply spending time with family. Her two green thumbs could grow fruits, vegetables, trees, and anything else by merely planting the seeds she’d tossed.
Her love of God and family were first and foremost. She was baptized in 2000 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Her faith in God was witnessed by many and she would spend an hour daily in prayer and meditation.
Hoa, also known by many as Rose, her favorite flower, is survived by her daughter, Paulina Trinh Nguyen Stephens, her son-in-law, Brian Stephens, and granddaughters Vivian Nguyen and Tiffany Nguyen.
Hoa was preceded in death by her parents Thuc Van Nguyen and Rang Thi Le and her husband Dat Nguyen.
