Hudson Powell Lee
20 juillet 1938 – 13 août 2017
Hudson Powell Lee entered into rest August 13, 2017. He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 20, 1938 to parents Joseph and Vera Lee.
He grew up in Portland, Oregon and Washington State before settling in Houston. Hudson attended Edison Junior High, Stephen F. Austin High School, joined U.S. army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1958 to 1964 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Mainz, Germany where he was on the U.S. Army Rifle Competition Team.
He met and married his high school sweetheart, Merlene Richards Lee prior to being deployed to Germany. They shared 58 plus years of adventure and happiness with never a dull moment.
Hudson’s life was very active and he loved working with kids. Coaching and officiating youth and high school football for many years, coaching ROTC fancy drill teams and lastly being a crossing guard for Klein School district kept him young at heart. He worked in the airline industry many years retiring from British Airways in 2004. Following that retirement, he worked with TSA followed by Klein School District.
Family and his faith were the primary loves of Hudson’s life.
Hudson is survived by his beloved wife, Merlene Richards Lee, son, Phillip Lee and wife Lori, grandson, Justin Powell, granddaughter, Jennifer Reynolds, great- granddaughter, Carlee Shrake, sister Linda Gilmore. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Joseph Lee, and brother, J.A. Lee.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Nexus In-Patient Care and Oasis Hospice for their care of Hudson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

Grateful for the shared memories that I have to Cherish because You, Hudson Lee were such an Amazing husband to Marlene and and Amazing father to Phillip. You were a role model and a mentor to so many young men in the community. While we watched, and joined in Phillips asventures while Marlene and yourself just smiled and took in all the great memories.
Young men, that as you watch over them today, have become Amazing husbands and fathers themselves because of your presence in their youth. Thank you for sharing your love and your family and your home with us while you were here. I look forward to joining you once again in Heaven and sharing in health, laughter and smiles.
My heart and love to you-

Hudson was a man that gave everything to his wife and son. He always greeted you with a firm handshake and a smile. You never heard a foul word from him about anything only positive solutions. He was a true American and will be missed.

My deepest condolences to the Lee Family. I grew up with Phillip and was fortunate to know Hudson by going over to their to hang out with Phillip, he was also referee in our football league. He was a great man, took care of his family, and was honorable while doing it. I hate to see him leave this place but Heaven gained a great man in the process. Peace to him and his family during this difficult time.

I want to send my condolences to Mr Lee's Family. We came across him and Mr. Henry about 7 years ago when he helped our kindergartner cross the walk way to Kreinhop. From that moment she was glued to them both. He had the most gentle spirit about him and truly enjoyed seeing our daughter. He was one of the many constants in her life she associated with school. She made sure every holiday and special occasion she would take him something. Two weeks ago she came across a picture she had taken with him and wanted to give it to him. Today starting on the first day back to school (8th grade) we heard the news. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort knowing his faith and he is with our Heavenly Father. Thank you Mr. Lee for being a influential person in our daughters life, we will never forget you.

Precious Lee Family, I am so sorry for your loss. Our Holy Bible says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! Hudson has had his first week in Heaven! HALLELUJAH! Sitting at the feet of Jesus, walking streets of gold, feeling the great Pearly gates, and walls of jasper, and listening to the Heavenly Choir! If you could see where he is, you wouldn't cry, but only rejoice! I love y'all dearly!, Aunt Bonnie
