

Irma J. Rodriguez, age 57, of Pearland, TX, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. Born July 22, 1963, in Brownsville, TX, Irma was a wonderful wife, amazing mother, loving daughter and sister, dedicated educator and loyal friend.
She cherished time with her family and her contagious laughter and bright smile brought tremendous joy to those around her. Known for her impeccable sweet tooth, Irma found delight in pleasing her family and friends with her amazing desserts; Banana Pudding and Italian Cream Cake were two of her specialties. She loved traveling and was blessed to have visited countries around the world including Egypt, Italy and Canada. However, her favorite destination was Hawaii because she loved all its beautiful beaches.
Irma’s passion for teaching was evident in the love she expressed for each of her students. Her teaching career spanned 27 years, all in service to Houston Independent School District. She was especially faithful to her Sanchez Elementary family for the last 21 years. Loved and respected by her peers and students, she brought knowledge, enthusiasm and love to the classroom every day. She was honored as lead teacher of her grade-level several years and also received the distinction of Teacher of the Year. Irma was a mentor to many new teachers over the years, providing a tremendous positive impact to them.
Her vivacious and joyful spirit was unlike any other and she welcomed everyone into to her heart and home. She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Herminia Jaramillo. Survived by her devoted husband Eddie Rodriguez, son Aaron Rodriguez (fiancée Mirna Gonzalez) and daughter Iliana Rodriguez; four siblings Antonio Jaramillo, Jr. (Sylvia); Leticia Buron (Al); Herminia Rodriguez (Rafael) and Linda Elguezabal (Carlos) as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. Irma will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves us rich in loving memories.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020, from 5PM – 8PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, TX 77581 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
