Our Beloved matriarch, Isidra Flores Guajardo, 90, was greeted by our Lord Jesus to enter her Eternal Home on Friday, March 13, 2015 in Houston, TX. She will be reunited with her husband, Isidro Guajardo. She departed peacefully surrounded by family members; we are comforted by the fact that she is no longer suffering. She will be forever in our hearts and be remembered by her family, relatives and friends.
Isidra has one surviving sister, Martina Flores, who lives in Mexico. She is survived by 4 daughters: Zaida Velasquez (spouse-Roberto Velasquez) Ena Elia Masera (spouse-Mark Masera), Aleida Guajardo & Mereida Guajardo; 3 sons Raynolds Guajardo (spouse-Gail Guajardo), Daniel Guajardo (spouse-Cristina Guajardo) & Wilfredo Guajardo.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Rafael Velasquez (spouse-Cynthia Velasquez), Jose Luis Velasquez, Roberto Velasquez, Yolanda Velasquez, Rosemary Guajardo, Gregory Guajardo, Brianna Guajardo, Stephanie Guajardo Palacios (spouse-Marvin Palacios), Alyssa Guajardo, Kayla Guajardo, Adrian Masera, Anthony Masera & Angela Masera (fiancé-Howard Cortes). In addition, she has 4 great-grandchildren: Manuel Alejandro Velasquez, Zaida Velasquez, Diego Palacios & Lorenzo Palacios.
Isidra Flores was born in Milpillas, NL in Mexico. She married Isidro Guajardo at an early age. Their first daughter was born in Mexico where they resided until 1948 when they immigrated to the United States. She was pregnant with her second child when they lived in Weslaco, TX. They had one more child in Weslaco before moving to Kingsville, TX. In Kingsville, their remaining 4 children were born and they settled in to raise their family. In 1974, the family moved to Houston where they presently reside.
Our mother may not have received a formal education but she had something that many learned people lack – a caring and loving heart. She gave us life, nurtured us, taught us, dressed us, fed us, disciplined us, put us to sleep, and took care of us when we were sick. The most important thing was that she loved us unconditionally. Words are inadequate to describe just how important our Mother has been to us. Her spirit will continue to influence us for the rest of our lives.
Our mother can best be remembered by the following: a love for cooking and eating good food, a love for gardening, a love of family and family gatherings, and most important her faith in God. Until we meet again at the Pearly Gates.
Love,
Your Children
