AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Iska "GG" Ruth Swann

24 avril 1934 – 25 mai 2025
Avis de décès de Iska "GG" Ruth Swann
AUX SOINS DE

Garden Oaks Funeral Home & Crematory

Iska Ruth "GG" Swann (née Orr), age 91, passed away peacefully at her son’s home on May 25, 2025, in Katy, Texas. Born April 24, 1934, in Amarillo, Ruth graduated from Snyder High School and worked in several different jobs in both Texas and Indiana before finishing up at Texas Instruments.

Family was at the heart of everything Ruth did. She was the beloved mother of Jerry Swann (Ann), and the late Kathy Swann Pounder (Ian). She cherished her role as Grandma or “GG” to her grandchildren: Jessica Swann Parson (Harlan); Sara Swann-Barnard; Chris Swann; Amy Tomlinson ( Jimmy); and Natalie Harris (Cole). Ruth’s legacy continues through her thirteen much-loved great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She is also remembered with love by her brothers Buddy Orr (May); Wayne Orr; Dale Orr (Charlotte); and her precious sister Linda Wells. She held close the memory of those who preceded her in death; her parents, Robert Dee and Emma Orr; her siblings Margie Branton, Clifford Orr, and David Orr; and her devoted daughter Kathy.

Ruth found joy in many things throughout her life. She was an avid fan of Jackalopes hockey, always attending games with Kathy, Jessica, and Sara. Ruth also loved playing cards and walking the many trails around UTPB. Music brought her great delight—especially singing old country songs with Charlotte, Linda, and Ann. She enjoyed being heard on FM radio as Crazy Grandma. Mostly she just loved spending time with family. Her home was brightened by the presence of Ian and Kathy's little rescue dogs, especially her beloved Frankie.

Ruth’s warmth extended beyond her immediate circle to include numerous nieces and nephews. Many of them called her Smokey and they held a very special place in her heart. Ruth's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her left an indelible mark on everyone she knew.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Anchor Hospice for their compassionate care during Ruth’s final days.

A private memorial will be held at her brother’s home in Abilene.

To honor Ruth, please consider a donation to your favorite animal rescue charity.
