Issa (Chris) Balat, 69, of Houston passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of September 23, 2014. Chris was born on April 20, 1945 in Jerusalem, Israel to parents, Yousef Issa Balat and Najla (Cook) Balat. He married Margaret Riadi Balat in Bethlehem on January 30, 1972. He was a wonderful husband of 42 years and father of two sons. He is survived by his wife, children, three grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Chris has been a staple of the Garden Oaks Community for 36 years. He and his wife were the proprietors of Chris’ Alterations on 34th Street and enjoyed every day of being a part of the community.
The family would like to invite those who wish to come celebrate Chris’ life from 5 -8 pm, Friday, September 26, 2014, with a memorial service at 7 pm with Rev. David Wakeland officiating, at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th St., Houston, 77018.
