

J. Refugio Lopez Jimenez, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born on February 1, 1947, in Mexico, he lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and devotion to his family.
He married the love of his life, Ramona M. Lopez, on August 10, 1969, and together they built a loving family and a lasting legacy. A skilled and dedicated mechanic by trade, Refugio was known not only for his craftsmanship.
He was a proud member of the Caballeros de Colón, where he found fellowship and a chance to serve others in his community. A passionate baseball fan, he loved watching the game and sharing that joy with his children.
Refugio is preceded in death by his great grandchild Sabastian Duarte and brothers Pablo Lopez Jimenez, and Manuel Lopez Jimenez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ramona M. Lopez; their five children: Martha Patricia Lopez, Maria De Lourdes Castillo, Jose Refugio Lopez, Alma Delia Grizzaffi, and Seferino Lopez; grandchildren: Jeannett Duarte, Nicole Villanueva, Jose Refugio Lopez Jr., Bianca Villanueva, Christian Xavier Lopez, Jessica Medellin, Matthew Gino Medellin, and Joseph Andrew Barajas; and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Gabina Lopez Jimenez and Marielena Lopez Jimenez, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Refugio’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering love, and deep commitment to his family and faith. He leaves behind memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation for J. Refugio will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003. A rosary will occur Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 7:00 PM, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003. A Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 501 Tidwell Rd, Houston, Texas 77022. Interment will follow Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 11:30 AM at San Jacinto Memorial Park, 14659 E Freeway, Houston, Texas.
