On Friday, April 26, 1991, God blessed Patrick and Valarie “Peaches” (Edwards) Holman with a special and beautiful gift of life named JaCourtney (affectionately known as “Pooh Shun”). On Friday, May 3, 2002, Pooh Shun heard God calling him into eternal rest and happily ran into the arms of Jesus.
Pooh Shun would always tell his mom that he could not wait to see Jesus face and now he is sitting on the throne in Jesus lap probably asking a million and one-questions. He asked his school principle, “Have you ever loved someone so much that you wanted to die just so you could be with them?” She asked him whom he was referring to and he replied, “my two grandmas”. Those two grandmothers that loved and imparted so much in him was Ruby Davis Kelley and Rosie Lee Clark.
Pooh Shun was a student at A.A. Milne Elementary of Houston, Texas. In 1997, he made a personal decision to give his life to God and was baptized at Faith Full Gospel Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama. He later joined Houston Deliverance Center of Houston, Texas where he loved to worship God. He was full of life and energy and loved to give hugs and big smiles.
Words can’t explain how you influenced our lives, and the stuff that you did, that’s why we’re letting you know we miss you Pooh Shun. You filled our lives with laughter and joy. We can’t help but to miss you baby boy. It’s hard to believe that you’ve really departed this world but it eases our minds and hearts to know you’re in your Heavenly Home. A home where everyone is loves each other. You are special, unique, lovable, kind, sweet and made our lives complete. In life you gave us joy, peace, happiness, humor because you are our very special Shun. We look up into the sky and thank God for blessing us with you for the short moment of life we shared together. “We’re proud of you!”
Pooh Shun left us with so many Remember When Moments: Running grandma Duck blue Cadillac into the creek below her house, crawling under the Caddy and going to sleep while grandma Duck ran around crying looking for him, placing his brand on his cousin JaTyia with a swift kick while in Toyia’s wound, remember when Toyia put powder all over Shun and he couldn’t breathe and Duck walked in and caught her shaking him upside down, how he would tuck his shirt in cause Uncle Bubba told him he gotta always look good for the girls, what he would say when you ask him how his Daddy do it, when Pat had him to pee on Jerome car, when he would show us how his daddy dance and start singing “Time-a time-a o de water” Sprinkle Me E-40 song, when he would jump in the car and tell Pat "pin off Daddy", "Me ownself" or "Butts" whenever you ask him why he did something, calling cousin Zay "Rollie Pollie" just so he could laugh at him for having nappy hair, when he got in an ant pile and start telling the ants to stop biting him instead of knocking them off “Stop ants no bite”, he told grandma Ruby he was going to tell the Jesus on her if she whooped him, when he use to wake up Jerome by biting his ear say “Get up Jome”, when he told Rudy to get his jack hands off him, when he use to curl his toes up in his boots before going to sleep so no one would take them off, called his favorite pair of jeans pockets, when he would watch Friday and Dirty Dancing everyday….
Pooh Shun was 11 years old when he passed; however, he gave us 44 years of memories…
