Jacqueline Hughes Gruener, 89, of Pattison Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. She was born in Texico, NM on August 30, 1931 to Jack and Martha Ann Hughes. She moved to Texas at the age of 2 and spent all of her school age years in LaPorte, Texas. She was married to Robert (Bob) E. Gruener Sr. for 70 years and 8 months. In 1967, Jackie started her career as a secretary for several HISD schools. After moving to Waller County in 1976, she began her career with the Royal ISD tax office. She later served as the Royal ISD Tax Accessor Collector before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the TRTA/TRS and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison, serving times as secretary and treasurer. Jackie had a passion for sewing when her children were young, knitting, embroidery and crocheting. She loved the babies and was always making baby blankets for friends and family. She loved canning her spiced peaches and making her special Salsa. Jackie loved her Oiler football games, had a great sense of humor and according to her granddaughter made the best grilled cheese ever!

Jackie was preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Geraldine Jacobsen, and 2 brothers, Glenn Hughes, and Charles Hughes. She is survived by her husband Bob, 3 daughters Cynthia Janda (Tom), Susan Rodney (Don), Janice Queen (Mike), and one son, Robert E Gruener Jr and Sheri Gruener. Brother in law Ronnie Gruener and Sisters in law Ruby Hughes and Sally Hughes. Grandchildren Chad Janda, Travis Gruener, and Katie Queen. Great Grandson Zachary Janda. Bonus-grandchildren Eric, Craig, and Jeff Blevins, Amber Liggett, Chase Queen, Christina Quaid and Deana Rodney. Bonus-great grandchildren Wesley and Addison Liggett and Lydia Richardson, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Christ Lutheran Church, 35912 Royal Road, Brookshire, Texas 77423. Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Service at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service at Pattison Methodist Cemetery (next to the church). Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Janda, Travis Gruener, Chase Queen, John Gruener, Paul Vocelka, and Sam Leppard. Honorary pallbearer, Zachary Janda. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Caydance Assisted Living and Accredited Hospice for the care they gave to our mother. In Lieu of usual remembrances, memorials made be made in her name to Christ Lutheran Church, P O Box 507, Pattison, TX 77466-0507.
