James Barry Cahill (90) was born in Columbus, OH, on August 13, 1932, to Joseph Goodwin Cahill and Dorothy Elizabeth Cahill. He died peacefully in his sleep March 9, 2023. He graduated from Kenyon College, Gambier, OH, cum laude in 1954 where he enjoyed playing on the tennis team. Barry served in the USAF where he was a jet pilot, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. After his discharge in 1957, he began his sales career in Detroit, Michigan. He continued his career in sales and management with Aeroquip Corporation, Snap-Tite, Inc., Hi Flex International in the UK, and Wilco Supply, LLC, in Houston, Texas. While playing tennis in Houston, Barry met Nancy Leigh, fell in love, and married in 1987. Throughout their thirty-six wonderful years together, they enjoyed playing tennis and golf, boating, dining, and dancing, many fun cruises, and travels to Europe, New Zealand, and Alaska. Together they have enjoyed many wonderful friends in Houston, Walden on Lake Conroe, Savannah (Pooler), GA, Del Webb in Richmond, TX, Parkway Place Retirement Home, and Heritage Grand, Cinco Ranch, Katy, Texas. Barry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, son, James Cahill and granddaughter, Erin, of Albany, OR, Keith Cahill (Heidi) and granddaughter, Elle, of Scottsdale, AZ, daughter, Kelli Cahill (Mark) of Phoenix, AZ, sister, Carol Lee Cahill of Santa Marie, CA. His stepdaughter, Sheryl Leigh Heard (Steve) survived Barry, but devastatingly passed away April 3, 2023. Also surviving are, stepson, Charles Leigh III, (Shannon), three step grandchildren and one step great grandaughter. At Barry’s request, a Military Service with a Gun Salute will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 11:15 A.M., followed by a reception at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas.
