

James Martin Delaney, born on April 17, 1938 in Sicily Island, LA to Clyde Delaney and Maggie Squyers Delaney, passed away June 20, 2014 in Tomball TX. Jim was the oldest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his mother Maggie, his father Clyde and two brothers, Charley Fred and Rufus. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda Holt Delaney and their son, Kevin, his three children and four grandchildren. He also has a son by a previous marriage, Russell and his two children and one grandchild. He has two brothers, Eugene and Lynn Delaney and three sisters, Minnie Holland, Marie Cowan, and Shirley Sandlin. From these siblings, there are numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was born again Christian and he married Wanda in 1965 in Houston TX. Jim was an outstanding outside parts salesman for several Ford Dealerships in the Houston Area. In 1972 he achieved Salesman of the Year for the nationwide Autolite Parts Division in Ford Motor Company. Later years brought changes to his selling career and he went to work for Bowman Distribution and Maintenance Hardware Company, where he worked for 10 years and attained the position of Nation Accounts Manager. Later, Jim went to work for Lawson Products, as district manager for 20 years. During that time, he move to Bryan Texas and covered an area from Waco to Brownsville, Texas. He mentored several new members of staff. He and Wanda lived in Bryan for 15 years where he retired. He was beloved by his customers who could always count on him for a new joke or funny story on every visit. He loved hunting, camping and joined an R.V. club where he met numerous people who all called him friend. Upon retirement, Jim and Wanda traveled the central and north western part of the U.S. enjoying the country side. They left the traveling behind in 2006 after he was diagnosed with dementia. He continued to make the best of what he could in any capacity he could. Jim was a positive man and had a good life, leaving a positive wake behind. He lived a good life.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, June 23, 2014 at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 10am Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Brookside Family Chapel with interment to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
