Mr. Ekholm was born the 12th of December 1932, in Arlington, TX. Phil attended The University of North Texas and enrolled in the U.S. Air Force as an officer after graduation. Upon completion of his service to his country, he embarked on a successful business career in Houston. He worked as a manufacturer’s representative in the petro chemical industry and founded Ekholm and Henderson in the early seventies.
Phil spent more than fifty years in Houston. He and his wife Vicki loved their community and the people in it. They enjoyed traveling, sports, and were avid supporters of The Houston Livestock and Rodeo.
He is survived by his son, Vic Ekholm of Dallas; daughters, Dana Joplin, and Darla Ray both of Austin; and two grandsons, Evan and Britt Ekholm.
A memorial service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 7th of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Bill Murray, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that contributions in memory of Mr. Ekholm be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
