James A. Fulmore died on the 16th of June 2012, the result of a serious stroke he suffered at his beach house on San Luis Pass on the 20th of November. He was born on the 10th of January 1930, in Boston, and grew up one of six children on a farm in New Hampshire. He left New Hampshire seeking more opportunity, and came to Houston permanently in the 50's. He had many talents which he applied first to engineering drafting and later to home building. Jim broke every mold, one of a kind, who could create or fix anything that challenged or inspired him. He was endowed with an iron will, for good or ill, and could be crotchety or wildly witty to fit the circumstance. As he lay still, his nurses were still giggling over things he said and did before he slipped into a coma. He was compassionate, genourous and caring.
After retiring, he lived full time on the water, selling real estate, which he hated, and creating folk art, which he loved. If he could speak now, he would say he had a happy life. If he could have chosen, he would have gone out with a bang instead of a whisper. He was a bang kind of guy.
He is survived by his beloved yellow lab, Jill; wife Carol; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Charley and grandson, Chad Howell of Atlanta; sisters, Barbara and Elenore; brother, Joe, of Villages in New Hampshire; and many friends who loved his humor and spirit.
His ashes will be scattered in the waters surrounding Treasure Island where he spent many happy years.
