James relocated to Houston, Texas and he worked at many places including Houston ISD and Wyatt's Cafeteria. His hard work ethic paid off as he was able to purchase his own dump truck and became self-employed for approximately ten years. Later in life he started working for Earth Material driving trucks for Paul and Gail Kennedy and retired a few years later to enjoy his golden years.
James was baptized as a Jehovah Witness on January 24, 1998, which he served faithfully. On May 9, 2012, James and Donna Kindley Sanders were united into Holy Matrimony. He loved all his family and took great care of them.
James is preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Vera Hargrove and Luella Thomas; three brothers, Howard Sanders, James E. Sanders and Leodis Sanders; his one and only daughter, Genevieve Marie Brown; granddaughter, Cassandra (KK) Brown.
James leaves to mourn his passing, yet cherish his loving memories, wife, Donna Sanders; two brothers, Oscar Lee (Alma) Sanders and Hosie Lee (Ezelle)Sanders; five sons, Curtis Ray (Felicia), Lonnie Earl, Byron (LeCitha), Vincent (Jan), Brodrick (Rhonda); three stepsons, Reginald Lucas Jr., Christopher Lucas and Rodney Lucas; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, in-laws, friends and church family.
