James was born in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Sylvia Archuleta Zuniga and Jesse M Zuniga. He was raised for a short time in Denver and Las Vegas, New Mexico before his family moved to Houston, Texas. James graduated from Milby High School in 1969 and was proud to be a member of the Latin-American club. After graduation James joined the United States Army and served in Hawaii and Okinawa, Japan. He was proud to have served and was honored with the National Defense Service Medal.
James had 3 sisters he leaves behind which he loved dearly, Joann Gonzales (Las, Vegas, NM) Angie Harper (Pasadena, TX) and Lupe Sanchez (Conroe, TX) along with his brothers Viviano Archuleta (Santa Fe, NM) Jesse, Tony, Roy, Alex and Michael Zuniga (Houston, TX). James was divorced and had 4 children Rebecca Logsdon (Rodney Logsdon), Jessica Carrion (Matthew Carrion), Francesca Reed(David Reed) and James E. Zuniga (Vanessa Zuniga). James’ legacy was his family especially his grandchildren Salvador III, Joshua, Madelyn and Diana Ruiz, Anson, Jack and Mary Carrion, Alyssa Ayala, Tyler and Madison Reed, Jaydin and Caleb Zuniga they were his life and he was proud to babysit, pick up from school, and attended any and ever function requested. Along with his 31+ nieces and nephews he leaves many friends and family members. James lived very humbly and rarely asked for much but he made such an impact on everyone’s lives and we are proud to honor his memory and life today
