J.C. Runton

J.C. loved his family wholeheartedly. He had a passion for sports and a deep affection for his pets. A man of service and dedication, he spent several years working for Brinks, served as a deputy constable for over 25 years, and later worked with Aldine ISD for 10 years.

In addition to his parents, J.C. was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wanda Runton; brother's, Frank, Johnny, Bobby, and David; and sister, Beatrice.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Gibson and her husband Darren of Spring, TX and Charlene Runton of Spring, TX. He was a devoted Pawpaw to four grandchildren, Krystal Engelhardt and her husband Daniel of San Antonio, TX, Robert Ramsey and his wife Nikki of Humble, TX, Megan Loftin and her husband Lance of Anderson, TX, and Heather Bezjian and her husband Mathew of Manistee, MI; J.C. was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Carter and Cassidy of San Antonio, TX, O’Keylen of Humble, TX, Lakelyn and Landri of Anderson, TX, and Miah and Hunter of Manistee, MI. Also left to cherish his memory is his brother, Stanley and his wife Beth of Cypress, TX; and his sister Debbie of Cameron, TX. J.C. leaves behind many other cherished family members and friends who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.

We struggle to find the words to express the void you’ve left behind. While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing you are no longer in pain. Heaven has gained one of the kindest and sweetest souls we’ve ever known.

The family will receive guests for a visitation on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Brookside’s Family Chapel, followed by burial at Fields Store Cemetery, FM 1488, Waller, TX.

Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Englehardt, Carter Englehardt, Lance Loftin, Jeff Berringer, Robert Ramsey and Devin Finke.
