Jeffrey Allan Christensen, died peacefully on Friday, the 17th of August 2012, with his wife Patti, and son Noah, at his side, fully aware of the love and support everyone offered every step of his last journey.
Our beloved Jeff was born in Stamford, Connecticut, on the 4th of April 1965, the son of Jack and Mavis Christensen. He was the youngest of three children, a brother John; and a sister Janice.
A graduate of Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Connecticut and Full Sail School for The Recording Arts in Orlando, he worked more than 15 years as a sound engineer. For years he designed and installed hundreds of sound systems for Houston churches – sounds of joy and hope that will resound for hundreds of Sunday mornings to come. Five years ago he left sound engineering to join Jasek Farms in Katy, Texas.
Sound, music, mechanics, family and friends were central to his life. From the basement of his boyhood, he began mastering the guitar and bass, then, as a teenager, added his lifelong passion of racing and restoring his favorite motorbike. A restoration that is still in progress with the dis-assembled motorcycle in our home garage to this day.
After graduation from high school, he worked for Kramer Guitar and also joined the ranks of Great American Garage rock ‘n roll bands with his band of pals playing gigs throughout southern Connecticut under the group’s name of “Blue Streak.”
Known as “Steel Rain” to his World War II online flying group, the “Warbirds,” he faithfully jockeyed his way through the skies every Sunday night at half-past seven o’clock, a virtual Red Baron in the war-torn skies of make believe.
Those skies are silent now, but the love, the music and his friendships will never end.
“Please know how much your love and support meant to Jeff, to Noah and to me all these months, and I know beyond this notice of his passing and the memorial service that you’ll keep his memory alive in your own way.”
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 22nd of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Jeff’s honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Houston Chapter, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, TX, 77257.
