Born and raised in Houston, Jennifer built a life defined by hard work, devotion, and a heart that was always turned toward others. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daryl DeLeon, and her father-in-laws, Danny DeLeon and Richard Darley.
Jennifer is survived by her loving husband, Nash Mendez, and her daughters: Lauren Son (husband Matthew), Lainie DeLeon, and Laura Villegas (husband Nacho). She was a proud and doting grandmother to Carlos Villegas, Chris Villegas, Leila Villegas, and Mercer Son, who were truly the light of her life. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
Jennifer was known for her selflessness, her steady work ethic, and her warm, generous nature. Above all, she adored being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she cherished every moment spent cheering them on, spoiling them and making memories that will live on in their hearts.
A dedicated Houston sports fan, Jennifer rarely missed a chance to celebrate or commiserate over a game with her Astros and Texans. She was also a proud member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Corral Club, where she contributed to a community she deeply loved. Jennifer was also a big fan of Rod Stewart and his music.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 2-5 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cypress Ridge FFA Booster Club via Zelle or Venmo ([email protected]), the HLSR Scholarship Fund or The Sunshine Kids, causes that reflect Jennifer’s passion for youth, community, and service.
Jennifer’s legacy of love, generosity, and family devotion will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know her.
