

Jimmie Ortega, 83, of Houston, Texas entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2017. He was born in Houston Texas on August 14, 1934 to parents Roque and Ana Ortega. Jimmie graduated from Sam Houston High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was married to Irene Ortega for 59 loving years. Jimmie had a career in printing and worked for Wetmore, Hearn Litho. and numerous other companies. He had a passion for fishing, gardening and sports, especially basketball but above all, he loved his family and his church. Jimmie was a member and chairperson of the Holy Name society at St. Stephen during his younger years. Later he worked with the St. Vincent Society at Assumption Church. Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife Irene Ortega , his children; Mario Ortega and wife Alice, Kenneth Ortega, James Ortega and wife Rosa, Anna Rivera and husband Tony, and Phillip Ortega and wife Susana, grandchildren; Richard Aguilar, Stephanie Gloria, Jackie Vallejo, Michael Ortiz, Elizabeth Ortega, Allison Ortega Munoz, Amanda Ortiz, George Ortega, , Alisia Ortega, Jessy Ortega, Daniel Ortega, Joey Ortega, Isabel Rivera, Giovanni Rivera, siblings; Roque Ortega and Lupe Lopez Monreal, numerous grandchildren, many cousins and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm (celebrated by Deacon Mario Ortega) at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 beginning with a 9:00am viewing and 10am mass (celebrated by Fr. Albert Zanatta) both at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Roselane Street, Houston, Texas 77037. A committal service will follow to Brookside Memorial Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
