

Jimmy Lee Manuel was born in Greensborough, North Carolina on May 1, 1934, his family moved to Texas when he was sixteen years old. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy serving during the Korean conflict. Jimmy married Shirley Shiflet on September 13, 1957. He enrolled in the University of Houston and graduated with a B.A degree, they settled in Tomball and started a family; Jimmy made his career working for Smith Industries for over 40 years. They have been long time members of both Tomball First Baptist Church and Riveroaks Baptist Church, which included being a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.
Jimmy’s passion was softball, playing since he was 5 years old, while in his 70’s he won two Senior World Series championship rings. He also enjoyed tennis and golf with his brother Roger and friends, he was a Houston Oiler/Houston Texan fan.
His real love was his girls Shirley, Kimberly and Kelly, supporting everything that interested them, Shirley’s decorating, and Kimberly’s Pageants/Drill Team, Kelly’s Cheerleading/Schooling/career and continued to be involved in all aspects of their lives as they matured.
Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, friend and example to others.
Jimmy passed away as a “happy man” peacefully in his home in the presence of Shirley. He is survived by his wife Shirley, and two daughters, Kimberly and her husband Glen Plake, Kelly and her two children, Christian and Alexis Sandahl, who he had the pleasure of spending this last week with in California, brother Roger and Linda Manuel, Sister Betty Sue and Bryan Mansell and sister Loree Hudson Lyles.
