She was a loving daughter, caring sister, devoted wife, and the most amazing mother.
Joann was always the life of the party, and usually the one to organize it.
She brought people together, and many friends of hers, soon became friends themselves.
She was the happiest entertaining people and would oftentimes go to great lengths to make sure you were comfortable and felt welcomed.
The biggest mistake you could make was telling Joann what your favorite food or beverage is, because you would find yourself, and your pantry, overloaded with it.
She loved Christmas, ocean life, spending time with and getting to know people, but those close to her know she really loved cheese, any kind of cheese, and Pepsi. Not Coke.
It was a common sight to see a camera in her hands. Though she didn’t love having her picture taken, she was taking your picture whether you liked it or not.
Joann was one of the most organized people you will ever meet. Spreadsheets for everything, even for pictures, labels on every box, and always a clean house. Everything had its place, and she knew exactly where that place was.
She was an accountant for Shell for 45 years, and she was known to be kind, affective, and sometimes tough. But her bark was always worse than her bite.
The number of people who Joann impacted could fill a stadium, the Astros stadium preferably. And every one of those people will tell you of her generosity, her passion, her love for her family, her kindness, and her sense of humor. And all of these people found Joann through work, family friends, neighbors, parents of her children’s friends….. any interaction had the potential to become a friendship.
Words will never be able to describe how fierce of a mother she was. Always there. Always.
She loved Disney. Some of her fondest memories were our trips to Disney World. She wore Disney shirts, Disney watches, Disney jackets, and had Disney figurines. She was a fan of the Mickey Mouse club as a child and that love grew and became a part of her own children’s lives.
Blue was her favorite color, and that may have played a role in her love of the ocean. She loved taking care of her aquariums, looking at seashells, and cherished any opportunity to see wild sea life. This may have been partly why she worked for a company called “Shell” all those years.
Joann is survived by her son Jason Asimakopoulos, husband Chris Asimakopoulos, sister Christine Catsos, and tons of loving friends and family.
