Joe Loria Jr.

Joe Loria Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the age of 92. Joe was born on July 18, 1919 in Marlin, Texas to Joe Loria Sr. and Josephine Cardonia Loria.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, three sisters and five brothers. He was a World War II veteran, and was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and numerous ribbons and bars.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Fene, daughter Jo Anita Burgower, and two grandchildren, Rachael Rose Burgower and Michael Anthony Burgower, sisters-in-law Jeanette Loria, Lena Spedale, Julia Spedale, and brother-in-law Sam Spedale and wife Bessie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Earthman Hunter’s Creek. A Catholic Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., accompanied by the men of the Sacred Heart Society. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 26, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, following burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Joe Loria’s name to be made to Odyssey Hospice, 1917 Ashland St., Houston, Texas 77008.
