Joe Young was born on November 24, 1976 to Harry and Debra Young. Joe attended Houston Barber College and had plans to open his own barber shop one day, even though truck driving was his passion. He accepted Christ on February 16, 2020 and was added as a member to Garden Oaks Church of Christ in Houston, Texas.
Joe touched the lives of so many people; to know him was a joy! You could not help but to love him. He enjoyed spending quality time with his daughter, Jo’Naye (Juju), lending a hand wherever he could, listening to music, having a young bull and living his life to the absolute fullest doing what HE wanted to do…with no regrets!
He had a strong bond with his family and friends, or as he would say, “my people,” Joe took his role as a dad, uncle, the big cousin, friend, brother and only son with great pride. Whenever he left “his people’s” presence or ended a phone call, he was going to give you a hug and most definitely say I Love You! To know him was to love him.
Joe was the type that you could not stay mad at, no matter what he did! Even if you were mad at him just the thought of some of the craziest stuff he did or said to make you laugh would change how you felt with the quickness. You were guaranteed uncontrollable laughter when in Joe’s presence. He was the life of the party. He was naturally a people person, very loving, funny and had a heart of pure gold. He was never a stranger no matter where he went; he would always say “I’m good in every hood.” He knew EVERYBODY! He left his presence wherever he went.
On Sunday, March 14, 2021, Joe Young ascended to Heaven when the Lord called him home; “He fought a good fight, he finished the race.” Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pauline and Cornelius Hawkins; Sally Rae Young and Bear Dawson; aunties, Angelia Hawkins (his rider), Jeanetta Clark, and Kyra Hawkins; his uncle; Earl Young; two of his favorite cousins, Stanley Hawkins and Michael Ware; and other family members and friends.
Left in God’s care and to cherish his memories forever is his daughter/best friend, Jo’Naye Young (Pooh Pooh, as he called her); his parents, Debra and Joe Young; his sister, Coting Young; a niece, Deborah Collier; a great nephew, Johnathan Murray Jr. (June Bug), the mother of his daughter, Christina Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
