

John Frank Hammond, Born September 1,1924, in Bedford, Lawrence County, Indiana died Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at his home in Bellaire, Harris County, Texas. He attended Central High School in Columbus Indiana, graduating in 1942. John, proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. He was discharged as a Staff Sargent 316th Depot Squadron. Served with Headquarters Squadron, AAF Indian Burma Theater. He was the recipient of the Sellback Certificate, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal-WWII Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. John had may carriers throughout his life: computer programmer, entertaining, and his passion for singing with the Tidelanders Choir, Debonairs, Bayou City Music Committee and the Rumble Seat Four to name a few. He also sang the National Anthem for over 25 years for the Houston Astros.
He was married to Norma L. Page, on June 15, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his children, Wayne, Patty; Grandchildren, Nacole, Mike, Kelly and Frank; Great Grandchildren, Icis, Malena, William, Sydney, Luke, Dylan. He was proceeded in death by Daughter, Gail.
