

He was born in Houston, Texas on November 23, 1942 to Ernest and Athalie Hardie.
After spending four years, in active and inactive duty, with the United States Marine Corp, he went on to work with Nasa in the printing department. After leaving NASA he then went to for numerous printing companies until finally opening his own company, “Houston Embossing”.
John loved coin collecting, target shooting, deep-sea fishing, playing golf and studying American History with a special focus on Texas History.
His parents Ernest and Athalie Hardie precede him in death as well as his son John Michael Hardie, Jr. and sister, Cindy Williamson, brother Charlie Hardie and brother in law Charles Moertel.
His loving wife of 63 years Joyce Hardie, children; Diana Hardie-Blaha and her husband Rodney Blaha survive John, his sister Teri Moertel, brother in law David Williamson and daughter in law Jamie Hardie Bedner. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Paige Hardie, Abby Hardie, Austin Blaha, Tyler Blaha and Cooper Blaha and great grandchildren Cason Blaha, Brooks Blaha, Madeline Blaha, Kimberly Ferrell and Payton Farrell and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX on Monday, March 25th, 2024 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm followed by a funeral service on Tuesday, March 26th at 10:00 am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
A private graveside service will take place at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
