

Born in Pineville, Louisiana to John Horne Sr. and Loubertha M. Horne, John accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. William Humphrey at Second St. Joseph Baptist Church in Eola, La.
John graduated from Carver High School in Bunkie, La in 1970 after which he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country and fought in the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, he moved to Houston, Texas and began working at Grocers Supply Company and attended Texas Southern University. He had a real love for the outdoors as he enjoyed being with family, cooking, hunting, camping and fishing. He moved to Louisiana for several years and then became a member of the New Light B.C. under the leadership of Pastor Gary Ford. Upon returning to Houston, he became a watch care member at The Community Crossing Church then later joined under the leadership of Pastor Harvey Walker, he attended faithfully until he was unable to do so.
John is preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Loubertha Horne, two sisters Debra Faye Horne and Bernetta H. Ambres and one niece Shermika Bolden.
He is survived by his siblings Lena Adams Houston, Tx, Shirlene Horns Lafayette, La, Marvin Horne (Kim) Chalmette, La., Rita Bolden (Willie) Houston, Larry Horne Houston, Tx and Sheronda Hayes (Alex) Katy, Tx and brother-n-law Kevin Ambres Laplace, La. He also has a host of nieces and nephews Yolanda, Lathosa, Roderick, Dontrell, Johnathan, De’Yarbrough, Temika, Shervonda, Spencer and Shemar, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memories. And his beloved pet Gigi.
